Komšić: Hasn’t Božo Ljubić learned anything from Bosnia’s recent past?

ZENICA, August 29 (FENA) - Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović, who today attended a ceremony marking the 830th anniversary of the Kulin Ban Charter in Zenica, also answered some of the questions from journalists about the ongoing political situation in the country.

The media representatives were particularly interested in their reaction to the statement of Božo Ljubić who said that "Herzeg-Bosna is a roadmap that BiH should follow".

“He is just smart, isn’t he? Has he not learned anything from the recent past? What he calls a roadmap was convicted a year ago before The Hague tribunal.

“What is there to say about something like that, asked Komšić, adding that he cannot even comment on such nonsense.

Komšić said he could not speak on behalf of political leaders about whether they would meet soon and form a government based on election results. He also commented on the statement made by the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Lars Gunnar Wigemark, that the government should be formed without any conditioning.

“This has nothing to do with him. That's not his job. He is certainly leaving. The government here is formed by people whom the citizens have given their trust and by not him. He remembered all of this just a day before he is to leave BiH,” Komšić said.

He also pointed out that the third member of the BiH Presidency, Milorad Dodik, cannot block the state institutions.

“Dodik cannot block the institutions, neither formally, legally nor practically. These institutions exist, and they function.

The Parliament is working, therefore, he cannot block the institutions and jeopardize the functioning of the state of BiH. That's how the Dayton Agreement was created, so something like that would not be possible,” underlined Komšić.

Džaferović said that no one in BiH can unilaterally dictate any solutions to anyone else.

“Anyone who wants to dictate and make things in this country the way they think should be is being misled.

Things can only go as they are agreed by everyone within BiH. If we can come up with a better solution, we will make it. If we cannot, we have existing solutions, and existing laws,” Džaferović said.

“I don't know if and when there will be meetings of political leaders. They should, of course, take certain action.

Džaferović sees the source of the current political crisis in BiH in Milorad Dodik's unwillingness and the policies he represents to abide by the laws of this country.

Commenting on Božo Ljubić's statement, Džaferović said it is, in fact, a "roadmap to a disaster".

“We saw where this roadmap led them in 1992, 1993 ...It is not a roadmap, but a horrible straying away that gave birth to the Joint Criminal Enterprise, which was convicted by The Hague tribunal.

All decent and smart people should condemn it, and those who took part in it should distance themselves and be ashamed of what it was, not offer it to us as a solution for today,” says Džaferović, wondering if this "roadmap" is embodied in the concentration camps Heliodrom and Dretelj and in the destruction of the Old Bridge in Mostar.

Asked how BiH can defend itself against those who attack its statehood, Džaferović said that BiH has always, through the course of history, defended itself with greater or fewer difficulties against all the attacks.
