SARAJEVO, August 30 (FENA) - All political leaders should act responsibly, show courage to their electorate in making difficult decisions and avoid making public statements which make compromise more difficult. Most importantly, they need to work to restore trust amongst each other and amongst BiH citizens.
BiH Presidency Member Dodik and SNSD were winners in the 2018 elections, and SNSD carries significant political weight in the BiH parliamentary assembly. The agreement signed between SDA, SNSD, and HDZ BiH is ready to deliver a Council of Ministers and, at the very least, shows that it is possible for leaders to agree. There is no reason to think that the intentions of HDZ BiH, SDA and its other partners to form a state-level government have changed.
The focus now should be on overcoming the current deadlock, as it seems mathematically impossible to reach a sustainable coalition without finding a compromise. Whether this is successful is mostly an issue that comes down to trust. Unfortunately, recent statements by leaders on all sides, including BiH Presidency Member Dodik, do not help to build that trust.
The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina supports today's statement of the PIC Steering Board, it is said in a statement from Ambassador Bruce G. Berton, Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
