Čović congratulated Palmer on his appointment as US Special Representative

MOSTAR, September 2 (FENA) - Dragan Čović, President of the Croatian Democratic Union of BiH and the Croatian National Assembly, congratulated Matthew Palmer on his appointment as US Special Representative for the Western Balkans.

"I am deeply convinced that you will do this job responsibly and contribute to further enhancing stability and cooperation in the region with your future work. HNS BiH and HDZ BiH officials are leading the integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the European Union and NATO. We insist on opening the process of negotiating and gaining EU candidate status,” said Čović in his congratulatory statement.

“It is extremely important for Bosnia and Herzegovina to make a new step through the political agreement of the constituent peoples as soon as possible to reach a compromise in order to become a member of the EU and NATO family. I firmly believe that your appointment will stimulate conversation and contribute to an agreement within BiH towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration," Čović stated.
