SARAJEVO, September 3 (FENA) - In the past eight months, 70.000 signatures have been collected from citizens across Bosnia and Herzegovina for a gender equality petition, Citizens' Initiative for Equality stated at a final press conference within the “Dialogue for the Future” project.

The signatories of the petition thus demanded full implementation of the Gender Equality Law in BiH, and implementers of this campaign concluded that 70.000 is a decent number and announced that they would continue the campaign with the goal of getting 100.000 signatures.

In the course of the campaign, young volunteers in contact with citizens, also explain the main importance of gender equality as an essential element of a healthy family, which is the basis for development of every society, it is said at a press conference.

“The campaign continues, we want to prove to decision makers in Bosnia and Herzegovina that citizens want equality and that we all have to work together on this,” said project manager Edina Selesković.

Citizens’ Initiative for Equality is part of the "Dialogue for the Future" project implemented by UNDP, UNICEF and UNESCO in partnership with the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
