SDP BiH: Nothing will happen after September 5

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 3 (FENA) - Members of the Presidency of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina have called for an emergency session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina to address the pressing problem of the failure to establish the state-level government, the consequences of which are mostly felt by citizens themselves.

As the SDP points out in its message to the leaders of nationalist parties, the unresolved issue of NATO and the ANP is increasingly becoming a cover for non-cooperation at all other levels of government. It is obvious that the one month deadline for forming of the government, agreed by the presidents of the SDA, HDZ and SNSD, will not be respected and that we will not get a new state government.

The threats with blockades after September 5 are only aimed at maintaining tensions without any substantiality as any quarrel between coalition partners gets resolved through joint bidding projects, voting in the House of Peoples, and budget cuts to the detriment of citizens, and this model will not be threatened this time either with  empty threats of Milorad Dodik.

At the same time, they add, the current situation shows that BiH needs an early election option where citizens can choose something better than nationalist leaders.

“SDP BiH recalls that discrimination and disrespect for human rights continue to be a problem in BiH. The party strongly condemns the fact that the study of the Bosnian language still remains forbidden for the children of Bosniak returnees in Republika Srpska for this school year as well which is unacceptable.

Months of statements and inter-party bickering have not helped craftsmen, electricians, paramedics, builders, or any citizen who expects a minimum from the state - its functionality. At the same time, the institutions of the state are subordinated to political party interests, which is why the state loses its power to implement quality social policies that would stop the departure of the working-age population,” stated the SDP BiH.
