New opportunities for BiH businesses opening on the Swiss market

SARAJEVO, September 4 (FENA) - The BiH's foreign trade has seen an increase in exports to Switzerland, which amounted to 126 million KM in the first six months of this year, which is an increase of 28 percent compared to the same period last year.

Ahmet Egrlić, Vice President of the BiH Foreign Trade Chamber (VTKBiH), said in Sarajevo today that Switzerland has a large, promising market for BiH businesses, emphasizing the role of the diaspora in making connections with that market and potential business partners.

Egrlić announced that they will organize a business forum for the second time in Switzerland, and recalled that the first was in 2017, after which results were visible in terms of foreign trade exchange.

“At today's workshop at VTK BiH, we will be preparing our companies for a new presentation in Switzerland, with focus being on ICT, electrical and metal industries. We think we can do better and more and this is an opportunity, with the support of the Swiss Embassy and our diaspora in Switzerland, to make a step forward on that market,” said Egrlić.

As far as cooperation is concerned, he added, the leading sectors are wood processing, metal industry, tourism. There is also a great chance in the housing sector, where there is already significant export to Switzerland.

Swiss Ambassador to BiH Andrea Rauber Saxer said that the core idea is to promote the private sector and support bilateral cooperation.

“If you want to do business in Switzerland you need to have someone who will open the door for you and the one who can help you is the Bosnian diaspora. An important prerequisite is that you know what your partners expect, that is, you must be prepared to know how to communicate with them,” said Rauber Saxer, expressing her support for the promotion of bilateral trade, which will be helped by B2B meetings that will be organized in Switzerland in the coming period.

The BiH businesses will have the opportunity to get acquainted with Swiss businesses in sectors such as ICT and the metal and electrical sectors.

The ‘i-Diaspora’ association was founded in 2015 with the support of the Swiss Government and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
