Komšić: BiH wants to be part of community of states and global security systems

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 10 (FENA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić gave a speech during the visit to the Royal College of Defense Studies as part of a working visit to the UK.

At the beginning of his speech, he said that he had the special honor of being able to holed the address as the Chairman of the BiH Presidency and as a former soldier of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stating that there was almost no greater honor in public engagement than military service in one’s country and when one has noble and civil intents, then that honor is even greater.

He emphasized that the friendship of the peoples and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom was built through a joint struggle and advocacy for what are true civilizational and democratic values, through the battle of civilization against anti-civilization, through the glorious struggle and sacrifice that our citizens endured in the fight against fascism in World War II.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina wants to be part of a community of states and security systems that want peace in the world. We thank the United Kingdom for the efforts made since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement. These peace efforts in Bosnia and Herzegovina have not failed. Thanks to British troops coming to BiH's peacekeeping mission, our country is stable today. However, we want it to be even more stable. Therefore, we greatly appreciate the support the United Kingdom is providing to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to NATO integration,” said Komšić.

He stresses that bilateral relations between the two countries need to be further strengthened in the coming period.

“In this context, I take this opportunity to express my satisfaction with the engagement of the United Kingdom Ambassador to BiH, His Excellency Matthew Field, who is a true friend of the State of BiH and all its citizens,” said Komšić.

In the end, he wished the students of the Royal College of Security Studies to be honored with the merit of peace, because peace is the most sacred thing we must protect today on behalf of the future. It is a victory that we should strive for, he said, the BiH Presidency said in a press release.
