FENA Press release

TUZLA, September 12 (FENA) - Four-day Silver Arrow military exercise completed today at the Dubrava military airport near Tuzla with the ceremony for senior officials and students of elementary and secondary schools in the Tuzla region, which the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH Armed Forces) implemented in cooperation with the National Guard of Maryland and US Air Forces in Europe (USAFE).

The AF BiH's keynote presentations were attended by BiH Deputy Minister of Defense for Policy and Planning Sead Jusić, AFBiH Chief of Joint Staff Lieutenant General Senad Mašović, Parliamentary Military Commissioner Boško Šiljegović, US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson, and a number of senior Defense Ministry officials and AF BiH officials, diplomatic representatives of foreign countries and officials of local institutions.

AF BiH trained Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) for the first time in the exercise that lasted from 9 to 12 September.

They trained to direct planes and helicopters for combat and tactical field operations.

The AF BiH did not have this capability, which is applicable in developed armies of the world. The training also included helicopters from the Air Force and Air Defense Brigades of the AF BiH, whose pilots for the first time acted in coordination with JTAC controllers on the ground.

“This exercise with the US Armed Forces showed that our armies can successfully cooperate in various forms of military operations. I would like to thank the US Government for enabling us to raise the level of operational capabilities of the AF BiH in this way, thus taking another step towards greater interoperability with NATO partner forces,” said BiH Deputy Defense Minister Sead Jusić.

Also, members of the 5th, 6th and 8th Logistics Support Battalion of the AFBiH Logistics Command rehearsed training in cargo procedures regarding loading and unloading of the US military aircraft C-130 Hercules (Hercules), which arrived on Monday from Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany.
