SARAJEVO, September 15 (FENA) - After being reelected as president of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) at the 7th Congress, Bakir Izetbegović said at a press conference that the SDA, in the proposed new statute, rationalizes party structures and introduces provisions on limitation of mandate and accumulation of functions.

“We will enable that members of other ethnic groups, women and young people are represented at all levels,” he said adding that the party should be like Bosnia and Herzegovina, characterized by diversity.

He emphasized that priorities in the next period of integration are all that oppose tendencies of disintegration, and above all, internal integration and integration into the EU and NATO, as well as reforms. In this context, he announced the adoption of "about half of European legislation" next year, which will be imperative for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Izetbegović announced that priorities of the party in new mandate will be the preservation of the defense of BiH and "those who defended BiH", a step towards Bosnian identity and greater turn to diaspora, as well as greater concern for returnees.

Furthermore, he indicated that very important goal of the SDA will be bigger investment in science, culture and sports. There must be more funds allocated for this "because extraordinary talents are born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, ".

“The process of transition to the market economy is behind us, and now we need to face challenges such as working conditions and correcting mistakes in that direction. One of SDA's focus will be on this as well,” said the SDA leader.

SDA Program Declaration, which he presented to delegates of the Congress, has caused a stir in certain parties as it expressed commitment to regional Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is the desire and policy of the party.

Izetbegović expressed hope that it would be possible to convince the "Serbian Corpus" that Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs to the EU and NATO integration, as examples from the region (Montenegro) show benefits of such decision.

He denied remarks that, according to the new proposed SDA statute, he, as party president, has enormous power and no responsibility. On the contrary, his responsibility is enormous, noting that the announced appeal to the court for changing the name of the entity Republika Srpska has not been realized yet, explaining to the press that it was not time for that, as estimated by his party.

Izetbegović's view is that his reelection as SDA leader yesterday is not the result of his previous rule with an “iron fist”, but rather strong SDA policy, a policy that reconciles rather than divides people.

Bakir Izetbegović was reelected President of the Party of Democratic Action yesterday at the 7th Congress of that party.

The election was unanimous, and he was the only candidate. Previously, delegates decided by majority vote that they would not vote secretly but by acclamation.
