SARAJEVO, September 16 (FENA) - The Office of the European Union Special Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUSR) hosted an event for children and young people dedicated to promoting reconciliation and regional cooperation, held this evening at the Brew Imperial Society in Sarajevo.

The event was organized as part of a project to promote reconciliation and regional cooperation among young people, carried out by the EUSR in cooperation with the Innovation Center Banja Luka and the Balkan Tube Festival (BTF) in Belgrade.

Children and young people had the opportunity to talk and socialize with young Youtubers from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.

Head of the EUD Press Office in BiH Jamila Milović-Halilović told FENA that they have been supporting the Balkan Tube Fest and yutubers for the past three years.

“These are young people we believe in. We try to get to know them and their parents as much as possible, to inform and educate them when it comes to what lurks as a danger on the internet, to teach children that those who are not their friends in life, they cannot be that on Facebook either, that they do not accept all kinds of requests and that what they put on the internet remains there forever, that they respect each other, that they do not spread nationalism, chauvinism, racism, any discriminatory speech, etc.,” said Milović-Halilović.

She noted that they were doing this for the third time in a row, and that the Balkan Tube Fest already visited BiH, both Sarajevo and Banja Luka.

She announced that the fifth birthday of the Balkan Tube Fest is being marked in September, and that is why they are launching a major social networking campaign aimed at children trying to move away from the narrative that may exist in their environments, schools, media, etc.

“We want to teach them to use the latest online tools to spread empathy, understanding, love, and honesty. I think we should give them a chance to tell us what they think about us, the region and we need to develop critical thinking together, to ask questions, socialize, love and have fun, and not to use fear or prejudice to resolve some issues in our lives,” said Milović-Halilović.
