STRASBOURG, September 19 (FENA) - Member of the European Parliament Željana Zovko says it would be unusual for her to take over the position of Rapporteur for Bosnia and Herzegovina since she has BiH citizenship, and that there is an unwritten rule that is strictly respected in international institutions, that a person who holds the citizenship of a specific country should not hold such a position.
"I respect that rule, and everything I have to say about Bosnia and Herzegovina has already been formulated in the resolutions of the European Parliament," Zovko said commenting some allegations that she could assume the position of Rapporteur for BiH.
In addition, she expressed concern about "the path of centralism chosen by the SDA in its Declaration because it is contrary to the words and spirit of European Parliament resolutions, which has voted with the two-thirds majority against centralization."
"The European Parliament has proposed a middle path between the Unitarian approach sought by Izetbegović, Komšić and Nikšić and the separatist one potentially advocated by Dodik.
The European Parliament, in its resolutions, has proposed federalization based on European models, where the rights and will of each community are protected. Swiss and similar models should be an example for the way to go,” said Zovko.
She believes that if Izetbegović, Komšić and Nikšić really want a civic society under the American model, one man - one vote, then they should be proposing a solution with three separate civic units and prepare for the process of "redistricting."
“It is a practice in the United States envisaged to ensure equal representation and protection of minorities and ethnic communities," Zovko said, and joined the appeal made by Commissioners Hahn and High Commissioner Mogherini to appoint the Council of Ministers as quickly as possible, according to the agreement of political leaders of the three constituent peoples.
