KONJEVIĆ-POLJE, September 20 (FENA) – About 130 Bosniak students from Konjević-Polje are attending classes at the Education Center in Nova Kasaba this school year according to the curriculum of the Sarajevo Canton, because they are part of their educational system.
President of the Konjević-Polje Parents Council Muhizin Omerović told FENA that nine first graders were enrolled this year.
“In addition to the first graders, we also have nine children who are sixth grade and who came from regional schools. There is no progress when it comes to solving the problem of the right to study in the Bosnian language. We are still waiting for the judgment of the BiH Constitutional Court,” Omerović points out.
Omerović says parents won't give up on fighting.
“We are not going to give up, although our struggle is difficult, but we will go on. It is very important for us parents that children have adequate education and that all parents together should strive for a better education. Our goal is to stop the discrimination,” Omerović said.
In addition to this problem, they also have problem with payment of salaries to teachers for 2016/2017 school year.
This is the seventh year since the parents have been fighting that their children have the right to study a national group of subjects and to do their studies in the Bosnian language.
