NEW YORK/SARAJEVO, September 23 (FENA) - The High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, hosted a traditional working dinner last night with leaders from partner countries in the Western Balkans, on the sidelines of the 74th UN General Assembly in New York.
Given the clear perspective of the European Union for the Western Balkans, the High Representative and the representatives of the region considered the significant progress made and the tasks that lie ahead.
They expressed support for the start of negotiations with Northern Macedonia and Albania on accession to the European Union, pointing out that this decision is crucial not only for the two countries but for the whole region and the EU.
They all supported the continuation of the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo and the conclusion of a legally binding agreement on the full normalization of relations as soon as possible.
Partners in the Western Balkans reaffirmed a strong commitment to the EU perspective, emphasizing continued work on reforms as well as regional cooperation and good neighborly relations.
The High Representative and Western Balkans leaders expressed solidarity with Albania, which was hit by a series of strong earthquakes over the weekend.
