BANJA LUKA, September 24 (FENA) - Vice President of the entity of RS, Ramiz Salkić reiterated today that giving up the reserve police force and forming a gendarmerie in RS could be an even more dangerous activity for the future of the country.
This unit, he believes, should undoubtedly serve to protect and support the realization of certain political ideas and the achievement of political goals in the future.
“A unit that is well equipped and trained, though much smaller in number, can be much more dangerous if it is misused by the system against a targeted group,” Salkić said.
That is why the gendarmerie, as a formation, is more dangerous than the reserve police force of RS, and its formation shows that the authority in that entity "has not given up the establishment of armed formations as a parallel force to other armed formations in Bosnia and Herzegovina."
During his recent visit to Serbia, SNSD leader Milorad Dodik spoke of the need for Serbia to assist and support armament and military equipping of the RS entity.
“For this reason, I believe that the activities of the MoIs of the entity of RS should be monitored by the cantonal and FBiH MoIs, and should undertake the same activities to maintain balance. With the large number of trained and equipped security guards and the large number of organized hunting associations in this entity, one can speak of serious military formations,” warned the entity Vice President Salkić.
Today's establishment of the RS MoI gendarmerie in Banja Luka is, he added, "a continuation of militarization in this entity."
“Their explanation that the purpose is to fight or stop the wave of migrants in our country is a story for children. Today, all migrants residing in our country have crossed into the territory of BiH by entering the territory controlled by the RS MoI first, they entered in groups and without any problems whatsoever,” underlined Salkić.
He points out that Bosniaks also carry with them horrible memories from the war.
“Every establishment and a display of police forces in this entity, their institutional and personnel strength and equipping, reminds Bosniaks in this part of our country of the facts from the judgments of the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, under which parts of the RS MoI have been convicted for committing the Srebrenica genocide.
Also, members of the RS MoI committed grave crimes against Bosniaks in Prijedor in Koričanske stijene. These are our feelings about the establishment of the gendarmerie unit within the entity police, especially when we consider the almost negligible number of Bosniaks employed in the RS MoI,” stressed Salkić.
The gendarmerie unit was officially presented today at the Training Center in Zalužani near Banja Luka as the new RS MoI organizational unit.
The promotion of this gendarmerie unit was attended by the BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik, RS Interior Minister Dragan Lukač, Police Director Darko Ćulum, as well as the entity officials, President Željka Cvijanović, Prime Minister Radovan Višković and National Assembly Speaker Nedeljko Čubrilović.
