USC rejects Plan of measures and activities for migrant crisis management

BIHAĆ, September 24 (FENA) - Members of the Operational task force on migrant crisis coordination in the Una-Sana Canton (USC) expressed dissatisfaction with the Plan of measures and activities for migrant crisis management presented by the BiH Ministry of Security at today’s meeting.

"We have not been consulted at all when drafting the Plan, although the USC is most affected by this crisis, so we will give a negative opinion on it at tomorrow's meeting in Sarajevo. An amount of about 150 million KM is planned, and almost everything is spent on strengthening the Border Service and the Foreigners’ Service. Also, money is planned for other measures that are not included in this and should be. There are health facilities in the USC, the cantonal ministry of interior, that is, the police, not to mention determining the location for migrants and relocating them from the center of Bihać and Velika Kladuša," said USC Prime Minister Mustafa Ružnić.

"Our citizens need to understand that these people are staying illegally in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that they cannot provide them with accommodation and transportation. We will tighten controls as much as we can, just as we did three months ago. We must put safety of USC residents and their property at first place, and then do our best to preserve the dignity of migrants and refugees," Ružnić added.

It was reiterated that no plan of measures and activities for migration management of the BiH Ministry of Security, which does not envisage stopping the influx of large number of migrants to the USC and designating locations for displacement of migrants from urban centers, will not be supported by the Cantonal Government and local communities here.
