Crnadak receives newly appointed head of EU Delegation to BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 26 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak received today in his inaugural visit the newly appointed ambassador, Head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative to BiH Johann Sattler.

Crnadak welcomed Ambassador Sattler to Bosnia and Herzegovina and wished him a successful term in our country.

He thanked the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina for its assistance to BiH in the EU integration process. He emphasized that in this process BiH expects from the European Union further support and assistance as well as a stronger insistence on the implementation of European standards and values, especially when it comes to the rule of law.

Crnadak stressed that the only direction for a secure and prosperous future for its citizens is the integration of BiH into the European Union, which is agreed by both entities and all three constituent peoples.

That is why it is the duty of everyone, said the head of BiH diplomacy, at all levels of government, to do whatever it takes to take further steps that would lead to EU candidate status.

During the talks, Crnadak said that BiH has unnecessarily lost time in long and unsuccessful political negotiations on the formation of the government, and that it is especially bad that institutions such as the BiH Parliamentary Assembly become hostages to the process because they are not working in the interest of citizens because of the blockade.

The interlocutors agreed that the electoral recommendations of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Report on the BiH General Election 2018 should be implemented as soon as possible in order to improve the electoral process and ensure voters without pressure, blackmail and intimidation.

Crnadak also expressed his hope that the BiH Council of Ministers would soon adopt a proposal for an action plan to implement the recommendations of the European Commission Opinion, so that implementation of the recommendations would start at all levels in BiH as soon as possible.

Crnadak and Sattler also discussed strengthening regional co-operation and other current political issues, the BiH MFA's Office of Public Relations said.
