Komšić thanks Palmer for political support US provides to BiH

FENA Press release

NEW YORK/SARAJEVO, September 27 (FENA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić met with Matthew Palmer, US Special Representative for the Western Balkans, on the sidelines of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Talking about the current political situation, the interlocutors touched upon the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and stability in the region. Palmer congratulated Komšić on his tenacity to keep Bosnia and Herzegovina firmly on the road to NATO. The interlocutors also discussed an initiative to form a customs union of the countries of the region, which would result in improving relations in the region and the standard of living of all citizens.

Komšić thanked Palmer for the consistent and clear political support the United States is providing to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its path to Euro-Atlantic integration. He stressed that he considered that the solution to the problems that our country faces was primarily NATO membership and then EU membership. For the lasting stability of the countries in the region, it is necessary for all the countries that are not yet members to become members of NATO and the European Union.

As for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Komšić said that since the elections last year, the body has been functioning well enough, but there is certainly plenty of room for improving its work and efficiency, the BiH Presidency said.
