SARAJEVO, September 30 (FENA) - Statistics showing an increase in completed and contracted works of construction companies from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina abroad are certainly a good indicator of developments in this sector - economic analyst in the field of construction Dženana Hodžić told FENA.
The value of contracted construction works of companies from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina abroad increased by 6.1 percent, and the works performed by 3.3 percent in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year. According to the FBiH Bureau of Statistics, 97.8 percent of the total value of work performed was for European countries.
“Trend of investing in the EU countries, which are mostly related to the business of our companies, has continued. The money is offered at low price compared to savings, therefore an even greater inflow of investments into the economy of EU countries is envisaged in the coming period,” said Hodžić.
As she added, most of the work is related to civil engineering, and given the large influx of foreign nationals to individual EU countries, especially Germany, there will be increasing demand in housing to accommodate immigrant population.
Hodžić, who is a member of the FBiH Parliament, stresses that the biggest problem in all industries in BiH, and especially in construction, is the lack of skillful staff.
