SARAJEVO, October 1 (FENA) - The BiH Council of Ministers Chairman Denis Zvizdić today visited the construction site of the Svilaj Bridge on the Sava River, which connects Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia on the pan-European Corridor Vc.
Zvizdić said that this is one of the most significant infrastructure projects for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“It is a facility that connects us with Croatia and, ultimately, it will be one of the most important sites on the Vc Corridor, which is significant for BiH from a regional and economic point of view and will connect Europe with BiH and Sarajevo, and Sarajevo with Ploče,” said Zvizdić.
The bridge will be 640 meters long and 29 meters wide, with three lanes in both directions.
“It represents the will and intention to develop economic and good neighborly relations with the Republic of Croatia and to strengthen the expansion of transport infrastructure as a basis for improving the economy and economic climate,” said Zvizdić.
He added that concrete construction works on the bridge near Gradiška are expected very soon, which will represent an important infrastructure project important for the economy, development, exchange and flow of goods, capital and people.
Zvizdić stressed that this is part of the overall strategy that Bosnia and Herzegovina has in terms of infrastructure development and border crossings development that will have infrastructure in line with European standards.
“This facility is important for both Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it is also important for the credibility of our country in relations with the European Union,” said Chairman Zvizdić.
He expressed expectation that the Svilaj Bridge would be completed and put into operation by the end of the year, the BiH Council of Ministers stated.
