BANJA LUKA, October 2 (FENA) - Banja Luka Mayor Igor Radojičić awarded contracts to donate equipment to 13 internally displaced persons and refugees to support economic empowerment.

“This is about people who have been part of the housing program, and these contracts additionally provide them with some basic resources for a small business, such as woodworking machines or machine tools, which could help them and their families for having better living conditions,” said Radojičić.

The project was funded by the City of Banja Luka and Catholic Relief Services (CRS), with a total contract value of 48.000 KM.

On behalf of CRS, Samir Softić said that the organization recognized the need for socio-economic empowerment of project beneficiaries as part of regional housing program funded by the Government of Switzerland.

“We supported a total of 629 beneficiaries of the economic empowerment project in 54 local communities in BiH, 13 of them from Banja Luka,” Softić concluded.

Ružica Bajić, one of the beneficiaries, said that thanks to this support she got a job that would provide better living conditions for her and her family.
