FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, October 7 (FENA) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Fadil Novalić, received today in an inaugural visit the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Johann Sattler.

They discussed the continuation of the implementation of the Reform Agenda, especially in the field of economics, where its most significant effects are expected.

“As you know, we work in the so-called "technical mandate", but that does not prevent us from working at full capacity and to pass the laws and other relevant documents to the FBiH Parliament. The FBiH Government has identified very important regulations on workload, namely the Law on Contributions and the Law on Income Tax, and submitted them to the parliamentary procedure. These are key fiscal laws and are part of a set of regulations that enable us to accomplish the most important tasks of the Reform Agenda and, providing their adoption, it depends how much the economy will keep the existing growth percentage. Previously, we have also adopted the Labor Law and the Pension and Disability Insurance law which is very important,” said Prime Minister Novalić.

He also stressed the need for harmonization of regulations in this area with Republika Srpska, and he expects continued successful cooperation with the authorities of this BiH entity.

“The next important step for us is the introduction of a real-time fiscal system, as the one that countries in the region and the EU member states have. We will also pay attention to environmental protection and further measures in the field of fiscal policy, and in particular the rule of law,” said Novalić.

The interlocutors also discussed the migrant crisis and how to tackle it, which must include all available forces at all levels of government.

One of the topics was the BiH path towards the European Union, and Ambassador Sattler said that he would unreservedly support the accession of our country to the community of European states.

The FBiH Prime Minister emphasized extremely successful cooperation with the European Commission so far and expressed hope that it would continue so in the Ambassador Sattler’s post, adding that "the FBiH Government and the Delegation of the European Union to BiH are part of the same team," Public Relations Office of the FBiH Government announced.
