Crnadak: Institutions in BiH must work normally until negotiations are completed

BANJA LUKA, October 7 (FENA) - BiH Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak believes that, without government formatiom one year after the elections, BiH sends highly negative message, primarily to citizens, and then to the European Union (EU) and potential investors.

He points out that it is at the same time negative and problematic for BiH that the government is not formed and that institutions are blocked while negotiations on this issue are ongoing.

It is very important that the EU supports institutions in BiH at all levels to work while negotiations are ongoing, because it is particularly negative that the three parties decided to block both the BiH Parliament and the BiH Council of Ministers during their negotiations.

He will also try to get support from the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini and other officials, who he expects to meet in Barcelona on Thursday, as BiH institutions at all levels have to work normally until government negotiations are over.

“Three parties that have held talks over the past year have wasted valuable time and are responsible for that period,” Crnadak said.

He also said that the EU and the OSCE must take lead in implementing the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) recommendations, as it is evident that domestic politicians have no interest in this, or lack the capacity to do so.

“Most problems come because the election winners do not have full legitimacy. It was best shown in the RS, where candidates threatened and blackmailed voters in elections. According to the OSCE report, the RTRS was completely taken over by one political party and one politician. Therefore, it is clear that in such conditions there is no democracy and progress,” said Crnadak.
