SARAJEVO, October 14 (FENA) - The Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community of the Federal Republic of Germany has donated today specialized equipment worth about 400,000 KM to the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH BP).

On this occasion, today, in front of the Main Office of the BiH Border Police, the Anti-Bomb Unit of the Border Police at the Sarajevo Airport presented the donated equipment, which is a set of protective suits intended for members of that team.

The participants of the presentation were welcomed by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to BiH Margret Uebber, who pointed out that BiH BP and the Federal Police of Germany have been working closely since 2000, and that German police experts have provided more than 120 courses for members of the BiH BP.

She recalled that FR Germany donated equipment to the BiH BP in the last few years in the total amount of more than 9.5 million KM, and that in 2016 and 2017, the cooperation of the mentioned police agencies of the two countries was further intensified.

Thus, as part of the implementation of the project for the administrative reform of the BiH BP, the Draft Rulebook on Internal Organization of this Agency was drafted, which now awaits the support of the Council of Ministers of BiH.

The German Ambassador said that all the mentioned measures and activities are in the function of strengthening the efficiency of the BiH BP in the control of the state border, and said that successful cooperation will be continued in the future.

Director of the BiH Border Police Zoran Galić emphasized that the Federal Republic of Germany is the leading country when it comes to donations and assistance to this police agency. He expressed gratitude for the latest and all donations so far, as well as the overall support of this country to BiH.

He added that such equipment and appropriate infrastructure will enable the BiH BP to raise its overall level of preparedness to a higher level and achieve the desired results.

Ambassador Webber and Director Galić signed the Agreement on the handover of the donation and handed certificates to the officers of the BiH BP who completed the training held by German experts, which focused on crisis management in the field of deactivation, destruction and removal of explosive and flammable materials.

As part of the presentation, where donated sets of protective suits were used, a demonstration exercise also took place according to a scenario involving finding and destroying suspicious luggage with the help of a robotic machine and with the use of sophisticated technique, which once again demonstrated the superior skills and competences of the members of BiH Border Police.
