FBiH Govt. considering a bid by Israeli-Chinese consortium for ‘Aluminij’ Mostar

FENA

MOSTAR, October 18 (FENA) - The Federation of BiH government, as the largest single shareholder, hosted a meeting on Thursday at which an Israeli-Chinese consortium presented its takeover bid for Mostar's ‘Aluminij’ company.

“Our further steps in this procedure will depend solely on the agreement of the shareholders with the potential investor, as the fate of the factory depends on this and the restart of the production,” said the head of the Public Relations Office and Marketing of Aluminij Mostar, Miljenko Buhač.

He confirmed to FENA that they have information that the FBiH Government has asked for several days to analyze the offer and that it would be considered at the next session.

“In about ten days, the next meeting should be held, which will decide on the future moves of the two sides,” said Buhač.

When asked about the content of the offer and how acceptable it is for the employees and shareholders of Aluminij, Buhač said that they are not authorized to speak about the details of the offer, especially the financial aspect, at least not at this time.

“What is important to point out is that the offer contains a logical and professional set of measures and activities that would lead to the recuperation of Aluminij Mostar, to bring it back to operation and the development of the entire system, not just the restoration of what has previously existed,” he said.

According to him, the most important issue to be resolved is to ensure a stable and affordable electricity price, and the offer contains options that the investor considers feasible.

Asked if any more offers had been received, he said that they have spoken with Dubai-based WAQT TRADE LLC, whose representatives visited Aluminij on October 10.

In addition to these two international consortia, another European company has shown interest.

“This company comes from a country that we consider to be stable and economically highly developed, which gives us hope that investors' interest in Aluminij will not subside and that an acceptable option will appear soon,” Buhač concluded.
