SARAJEVO, October 18 (FENA) - The Presidency of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) today adopted documents at a constituting session in Sarajevo that will allow it to set up a complete structure for the party over the next few months, responding to reporters’ questions, about the ongoing political developments in the country, they singled out the finalization of the activities on the full constitution of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly (BiH PA).

“With regard to current issues, the SDA reiterated its request to finally set up the committees and finalize the constitution of the BiH PA,” said the SDA President Bakir Izetbegovic after the session.

He recalled in this context that huge funds are placed on hold, warning that the lack of activities in that respect constitutes an anti-Dayton behavior, unconstitutional and illegal activities, punishable under Article 220 of the BiH Criminal Code.

The SDA Presidency welcomed the readiness of the HDZ BiH to further improve relations and expects concrete action to be taken in this regard and to unblock the process of government formation at the level of the Federation of BiH in line with the election results of 2018.

“Also, we expect the HDZ BiH’s announced material related to the Election Law is in no way in conflict with the opinion of the European Commission, especially with the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights on the Sejdić-Finci appeal and all other appeals,” Izetbegovic said, responding to the press inquiries and summarizing the results of the first session of the SDA Presidency for the 2019-2023 term after the Congress of that party held on September 14.

He recalled that a meeting with the HDZ should take place on October 28.

Asked if there was any progress in the talks with the SNSD, Izetbegović said that there were some meetings in the Presidency itself, but that there was no real progress.

When it comes to the migrant crisis and the institutional response to these challenges, the SDA leader has warned that this crisis threatens to turn into a humanitarian disaster with the coming of winter.

“Both the European Union and the authorities in BiH need to act promptly. This cannot and should not only be a problem of the Una-Sana Canton, the municipality of Bihać, or the municipalities with the Bosniak majority alone. This pressure must be spread throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Izetbegović said.

Responding to a question regarding the absence of an agreement between European officials over Northern Macedonia and Albania’s start of accession negotiations and their integration process, and what kind of message thins sends to the Western Balkan countries, Izetbegović said that the message is a depressing one.

“They are constantly talking about how enlargement should be completed and when the two countries make significant steps forward and meet the EU requirements, then there is no consensus and that is a bad message,” Izetbegović concluded, noting at the same time that Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to make efforts on its EU and NATO integration paths.
