SARAJEVO, November 4 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić met with the UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, the BiH Presidency stated.
Komšić welcomed the members of the UN delegation and stressed the importance of their visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the importance of holding the Global Grantee Convention of the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence against Women.
The interlocutors noted the progress Bosnia and Herzegovina made in creating preconditions for achieving gender equality goals, but they also stated that BiH will have to undergo certain reform processes in order to adequately respond to the challenges ahead.
They also emphasized the importance of including as many women as possible in the political life of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as clearly defining gender equality through legislation in BiH.
Chairman Komšić emphasized the continued cooperation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with UN Women and the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women, which paved the way for a systematic solution to the problem of gender based violence and contributed to the continuation of good cooperation and partnership relations between countries of the region.
The UN delegation was attended by UN Women Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Alia El-Yassir, UN Resident Coordinator in BiH Sezin Sinanoglu, UN Women Representative in BiH David Saunders, and Chief of the UN Trust Fund Aldijana Šišić.
