Džaferović: Serbia officially and systematically offends victims of Tuzla Gate

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 6 (FENA) - BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović believes the promotion of Ilija Branković's book 'Tuzla Gate – A Stage-Managed Tragedy', organized and hosted by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia, "is a new insult to the families of murdered young people at the Tuzla Gate, as well as to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina ".

"Serbia and its institutions also send a clear message that they officially stand behind systematic denial of crimes committed and the protection of convicted war criminals," Džaferović said.

He recalls that "Serbia has been providing refuge to the wartime commander of the Bosnian Serb Army Novak Djukić for many years, who has been convicted of crimes at the Tuzla Gate before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina."

Protecting a convicted war criminal, denying his crimes, and insulting the families of innocent young people he killed, is first and foremost an anti-civilization act, but also an act by which Serbia further undermines its relations with BiH. The highlight of the cynicism is that the promotion takes place at the time of the visit of The Hague Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz, who expressed dissatisfaction with regional cooperation at a meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

"As a member of the Presidency, I will insist that, within the revised War Crimes Processing Strategy in BiH, the policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina on regional co-operation and finding ways to bring criminals fled to neighboring states to justice," Džaferović said, the BiH Presidency stated.
