SARAJEVO, November 15 (FENA) – We should help children be children, play freely, learn, develop is the message of "A Child is a Child" event, organized by UNICEF in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union Office today in BiH to mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

During the event, stories of children staying in migrant reception centers in BiH were presented. These stories were told through the performance of students of the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy in Sarajevo. The video "Tell Me" organized by the international foundation Humanity in Action was screened. The video was created during a campaign dedicated to raising awareness among BiH citizens on the suffering of immigrant children and adolescents who fled their countries in search of safety and a better life.

"A Child is a Child" event displayed three exhibitions - an exhibition of works by children and young people from migrant reception centers across BiH, an exhibition of photographs created during the "Tell Me" campaign, and an exhibition of the poster "A Child is a Child", created by young artists and designers, participants of the Pop Up Sarajevo Student Festival of Design and Visual Communications for UNICEF in BiH.

All works are exhibited in the atrium of the European Union building in BiH from November 11 to 22, 2019.

Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to BiH Khaldoun Sinno said the event was organized to mark the rights of children, the rights of boys and girls in BiH and everywhere in the world.

"The situation is not as we would like it to be around the world, but also in Europe. The European Union works throughout the region and in BiH to ensure that children have the rights they should have, that a child should be a child, that they should learn to live their lives with their rights. First of all, a child should have their own space, a safe space where they can achieve their goals," said Sinno.

"A child is a child, no matter where does she/he come from, whether is a child from rural, remote parts of BiH or a city such as Sarajevo. There should be no difference in the approach and treatment of a child," UNICEF Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Rownak Khan said.
