SC Government to hold emergency session on migrant crisis tomorrow

SARAJEVO, November 17 (FENA) - Government of the Sarajevo Canton (SC) has decided to hold an emergency session on Monday (November 18) to discuss the migrant crisis.

The session is scheduled to implement the conclusions adopted at the initiative of the MP Bilsena Šahman at the 14th working session, held on 30 October, which addressed the issue of migrant accommodation in the Sarajevo Canton.

As planned, the SC Police Commissioner Nusret Selimović and all the municipality mayors of the Sarajevo Canton will be invited to the emergency session of the SC Government.

At a session held at the end of October, the SC Assembly asked the SC Ministry of Interior to immediately request information from the BiH Ministry of Security regarding the proposal to place migrants in non-prospective barracks in the KS area (Blažuj, Rajlovac and Semizovac).

They also ordered the SC Government to inform the local communities about the initiative, so that they could be involved in the relevant decisions.

At the same session, the SC Government was instructed to inform the BiH Council of Ministers as well as the Operational Staff for Migration and FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić to refrain from any further activities without formally communicating with the institutions of the Sarajevo Canton.

At the same time, it was decided that, if necessary, the SC Government would appoint a special commissioner for these issues, who would regularly report the Government and the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton on the situation in the area of illegal migration with the rights and duties to be determined by the SC Government, in accordance with the current legislation, PR Office of the Sarajevo Canton announced.
