Bradara and Sarajlić participate in roundtable on European integration process

SARAJEVO, December 3 (FENA) - Speaker of the Croat People Caucus in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) Lidija Bradara and Speaker of the Bosniak People Caucus in the House of Peoples of BiH PA Asim Sarajlić participated in a high-level roundtable on European integration of the Western Balkans in Brussels today.

The roundtable, organized by the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) of the European Parliament, was opened by the President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, who, while affirming the European perspective of the countries of the region, stressed that it is very important for the European Parliament to continue process of accession negotiations with the Western Balkan countries.

The participants of the roundtable were informed about the current political situation in BiH by the Speaker of the Croat People Caucus in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lidija Bradara, who expressed her hope that a new Council of Ministers of BiH would be appointed by the end of this month. Bradara emphasized the absolute commitment of all key political factors in BiH to the European perspective and process of European integration, despite numerous challenges that our country faces. He thanked the leaders of the European Parliament and other institutions of the European Union (EU) for the longstanding friendly support and interest they show for BiH's European perspective and future.

In discussing current challenges for EU enlargement in the future, European officials have made it very clear that the door to BiH's EU integration is open. At the same time, they called for the establishment of government in BiH at all levels without any conditionality and delay, and stressed that they expect the continuation of reforms and implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission Opinion.

The roundtable was also attended by the newly appointed EU Neighborhood and Enlargement Commissioner, Oliver Varhelyi, as well as MEP Tonino Picula, Rapporteur for Montenegro and Chair of the AFET working group on the Western Balkans.

Speakers of Croat and Bosniak Caucuses in the House of Peoples of BiH, Lidija Bradara and Asim Sarajlić, will participate tomorrow in a meeting of AFET members with delegations of state parliaments. The meeting is also expected to be attended by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, BiH PA announced.
