MOSTAR, December 5 (FENA) - Taking over air traffic control of Bosnia and Herzegovina's entire airspace last night, the BiH Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA) opened a new chapter in the history of BiH civil aviation.
This event marked the full completion of Phase II of the Strategy for the Development of the Air Traffic Management System in BiH (ATM Strategy of BiH), which means that the control of the entire Bosnian-Herzegovinian sky will no longer be carried out from neighboring countries, but from BiH itself.
"This is a big day for BiH as a country, because in a relatively short period of time, as the youngest European air navigation agency, we have met technical, staffing and all other prerequisites for us to completely take control of the air traffic above the territory of BiH," the Director of BHANSA, Davorin Primorac stated.
Primorac said that BHANSA currently provides services up to the flight level 325 or 10,000 meters.
"Twenty percent of the total air traffic takes place in that part of the air space, i.e., only 200 planes are in that zone of control," said Primorac.
BiH will control up to 1,600 flights within BiH airspace as of today.
