Komšić: Handke's Nobel Prize is an act of hatred towards victims of genocide

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, December 10 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić commented in a statement for FENA the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Literature to Austrian writer Peter Handke, who was officially honored in Stockholm at a ceremony on Tuesday evening.

Komšić said that today, genocide was praised in Stockholm, stressing that the act of giving the award to him by itself is devastating.

"Genocide has been rewarded today. Those who rewarded it should be deeply ashamed of it. From the award winner and the man who glorifies genocide, hatred could be expected, but the hatred of those who gave him the award is devastating," said the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He added that now it is the task of humankind to deal with hatred suffered by the victims of genocide.

"This is an act of hatred for the victims of genocide. Before humanity, before us all, before civilization, but in this case, before the people of books and words, the task is to fight hatred of the victims of genocide in our country," Komšić said.
