Indictment confirmed in Miladin Trifunović case for war crimes against humanity

SARAJEVO, December 11 (FENA) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment in the Miladin Trifunović case, charging the accused Miladin Trifunović with the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172(1), Subparagraphs a) and k), as read with Articles 180(1), 30 and 31, of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC BiH).

The indictment, inter alia, alleges that from early July 1992 to 16 December 1992, during the armed conflict between the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) and the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH), the accused Miladin Trifunović acted in violation of the rules of international law by breaching the provisions of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War. In the framework of a widespread and systematic attack launched by the VRS against the Muslim civilian population of the Vogošća and Ilijaš municipalities, knowing of the attack and that his actions constituted part thereof, as the VRS Vogošća (Crnovrška) Brigade Commander, with the aim of inflicting great suffering and injuries to civilians’ bodily integrity, the accused planned, ordered, incited and aided and abetted in a widespread and systematic attack against the Muslim civilian population of the Vogošća and Ilijaš municipalities, stated the BiH Court.
