SARAJEVO, December 12 (FENA) - The Faculty of Philosophy organized a scientific conference dedicated to Italian poet, prose writer, and politician Dante Alighieri today in Sarajevo as an introduction to marking the 700th anniversary of the death of the great man, which will be held in 2021.
The conference brought together scholars from different parts of the Balkans to discuss Dante, his poetry, his importance in the Balkans, and ways to spread his work.
The dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, Muhamed Dželilović, who received his doctorate with the theme "Dante in Slavic Literary Criticism of the 20th Century", which was also revised as a monograph entitled "Slavs about Dante", points out to FENA that Alighieri's work is one of the most significant in world literature of all time.
This shows, according to Dželilović, the reception of Dante's poetic work both in the Slavic world and in southern Slavs.
"Today's scientific conference is a timely reflection on his work so that the 700th anniversary of his death in 2021 can be commemorated with full academic dignity. Discussions will take place not only about the universality of his work, his modernity, but also his influence on the literary creation of the southern Slavs from the Romantic period to the present. And not only in the literary, but also in other artistic fields, such as painting, sculpture, theater, and even film," Dželilović said.
He emphasized that a special place in the work of the conference would be the issue of critical evaluation of Alighieri's work in the Balkans.
