SARAJEVO, December 13 (FENA) - The Catholic Church in Bosnia and Herzegovina unveiled today the activities of that charity on the occasion of Caritas Sunday.

Caritas' activities were discussed at today's press conference by Caritas President of Bosnia and Herzegovina Archbishop Cardinal Vinko Puljić, who presented a message for Caritas Sunday, Director of Caritas BiH Msgr. Tomo Knežević, Dijana Muzička, project coordinator on migrants, and Miroslav Valenta, coordinator of several projects.

Caritas Director Tomo Knežević stated that Caritas is one of the Church's core missions. He also referred to the issue of migrants, noting that this charitable institution is active in this field as well.

Speaking about refugees arriving in Bosnia and Herzegovina on their way to European countries, Dijana Muzička, the project coordinator for migrants, reminded that they were persons fleeing war or persons leaving their countries for persecution or for material reasons.

Muzička also emphasized that most families with children and children traveling alone are cared for in centers, and that is why one can hear that only men are migrants.

She cited that Caritas assisted more than 20,000 migrants inside and outside the camps, from May 2018 until the end of November this year.

When it comes to humanitarian activities, Muzička emphasized assistance in the functioning of the camps Bira, Salakovac, Delijaš and Ušivak, as well as assistance to volunteers in Sarajevo and Tuzla.

Miroslav Valenta spoke about the departure of young people, as well as the need to give concrete support to persons with disabilities.

He pointed out that Caritas BiH, in cooperation with national Caritas organizations from the region with Caritas Austria, launched the "Your job" program, which seeks to help young people to secure knowledge and skills to access the labor market.
