BiH needs to submit the CoE PA delegation’s credentials by 27 January

STRASBOURG/SARAJEVO, December 18 (FENA) - Under the Regulations of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), Bosnia and Herzegovina is due to submit the credentials of a new parliamentary delegation no later than seven days before the PACE session scheduled for January 27 next year.

However, the Regulations also state that this deadline should be respected if possible, which means that the credentials can be submitted a little later, or until the very beginning of the session, it was confirmed to FENA from the Council of Europe headquarters in Strasbourg.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has not been represented in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in the past year due to the blockade of the state parliament and there was danger that this remains so in 2020 unless it appoints a new delegation by January next year.

Thus, BiH became the only out of 47 member states of the Council of Europe not to have a delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of this organization, as parliamentary delegations were not formed following the 2018 general elections due to blockades in the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

However, following the recent agreement on the BiH Reform Program and the appointment of Zoran Tegeltija as the new Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers, the process of appointing parliamentary commissions has also been initiated, and BiH should have a new delegation by the end of this year.
