SARAJEVO, December 31 (FENA) – Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes has filed an indictment against Milomir Savčić, born in 1959 in Sokolac, a BiH and Serbian citizen.
The accused is charged for the crime committed during a widespread attack by the Army of RS (VRS) and the police in 1995 on the population of the UN Srebrenica protected zone, as the former commander of the 65th Motorized Regiment (ZMPT) of the VRS Main Staff, which included military police battalion, that from July 7 to July 15,1995 in the Nova Kasaba area, consciously assisted other members of the joint criminal enterprise, General Ratko Mladić, Commander of the VRS Main Staff, Colonel Ljubiša Beari, Chief of Security of the Main Staff of the VRS, and other commanders of the Drina Corps and the VRS Zvornik Brigade, as well as Police units, in capturing, executing and burying Bosniak men from Srebrenica, and in that way to destroy them as an ethnic group in that specific area.
Savčić was charged with having planned, commanded and supervised his subordinates’ actions during the seizure of several hundred Bosniak men in the Nova Kasaba area, as well as their unlawful detention, abuse and murder.
The accused Milomir Savčić is charged with the criminal offense of assistance in genocide with the actions described in the Indictment, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH stated.
