SARAJEVO, January 9 (FENA) - Director of the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada, Emir Ramić, said today that the Canadian Government condemned marking of January 9 in Republika Srpska as an anti-civilization act, making it the only country in the world to be formally determined to do so.
As a participant in today's international conference in Sarajevo on the legal and political implications of the Declaration on the Proclamation of the Republic of Serb People of Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 9, 1992, Ramić expressed the greatest appreciation to all members of the Canadian Government.
The Institute for Research of Genocide has decided to send an initiative this year, marking the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, to all member states of the PIC Steering Board to pass a law that will punish those who deny genocide.
“Today we will address all friends who believe in truth and justice to follow the example of Canada. Unfortunately, in our country, Bosnia and Herzegovina, due to the well-known political situation, this process is very difficult, but we hope that the High Representative in BiH will use his powers and pass such law,” said Emir Ramić.
Regarding the work of the Institute for Research of Genocide, he said he wanted BiH diplomacy to have a special segment that would lobby for the truth and justice of the Srebrenica genocide, as well as for the aggression against the Republic of BiH.
Ramić believes it is very important, both for BiH and for the public and international researchers on a scientific basis, to talk about January 9 and the consequences, both legal and political.
