SARAJEVO, January 15 (FENA) - Deputies of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina have refused to express their position on Serbia’s Defense and National Security Strategy which interfere in BiH issues at a session in Sarajevo today.
Discussion of the topic was suggested today by the deputy from the Bosniak caucus Denis Bećirović (Social Democratic Party - SDP) at the beginning of the session, but nine deputies out of 15 opposed.
Bećirović called the strategy anti-Dayton, saying it has political and security implications for BiH, which is why he thinks it is not good to go over the issue partially, since it is an attack on BiH's sovereignty.
“The part of BiH in this strategy was defined as a zone of special importance for Serbia, which was not even done by former president Slobodan Milošević, and we must not go over it easily,” explained Bećirović.
He said it would be an opportunity to urge Serbia to pull off such a strategy with the aim of building good neighborly relations, but such an initiative by Bećirović did not meet with the approval of deputies in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.
