Dević: Incumbent SC Government is doing everything to stay in power

SARAJEVO, January 16 (FENA) - Mahir Dević, head of the caucus of the Party for Democratic Action (SDA) in the Sarajevo Canton (SC) Assembly, said today after the session of the SC Assembly that no one has the right to confiscate the seal, and that Mirza Čelik has been confirmed and elected Speaker of the SC Assembly.

After the two announced sessions of the SC Assembly were adjourned today because of lack of quorum, Dević said at a press conference that "it is a matter of buying time for the incumbent Government to stay in that position".

Dević expressed regrets for developments in the SC Assembly, and said that after the end of the war in BiH, it was not noted "that the minority in the Sarajevo Canton is doing everything to rule and block processes in order to remain in power in SC".

“The situation is complicated. You are a witness to these blockades - to confiscate the seal, not to allow the SC Assembly sessions to be confirmed, the question of vital national interest is raised. They do this to prevent Mario Nenadić from being the Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton and that is clear to everyone. We will not allow them to order us who will be the new prime minister of the SC, we told them that at the meeting,” said Dević.

He explained that they offered solutions that candidates Danijela Kristić and Mirza Čelik for Speaker of the Sarajevo Canton would be unconstitutional, but to schedule a session and vote on no confidence to the government chaired by Kristić and, if the government is dismissed, to allow Čelik to chair the Assembly and to nominate Mario Nenadić as prime minister-designate.

He stated that they had accepted this at first, but later rejected the proposal.

“We cannot consent to this kind of blackmail and behavior. After all, here's your power in the Sarajevo Canton and rule, we won't. Make decisions if you think you can make decisions, take responsibility. Prime Minister, take responsibility for the situation in SC,” said Dević.
