'Justice for David' group opposes Ćulum's appointment as SIPA director

FENA Press release

BANJA LUKA, January 20 (FENA) - An informal group of citizens "Justice for David" opposes the proposal to appoint Darko Ćulum as director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and announce that they will invite citizens, domestic and international public to prevent it.

They claim that it "represents another slap in the rule of law in this country" and also a message to BiH citizens "that those who violate the law and basic human rights should be rewarded."

They request from deputies at the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly to not accept the appointment of Darko Ćulum as SIPA director and, at least, restore hope in what they say is justice for the citizens of this country.

“Instead of dismissing him from the position of the Director of the RS Police and permanently from the security sector, because of everything that has been happening in the Dragičević case, Ćulum is credited with committing a serious breach of law, especially human and civil rights, by his new function. Unfortunately, this is not the first reward for his inaction, disobedience and cover-up of the murders,” it is said in a statement from “Justice for David” group.

They also recall that RS Ministry of Interior inspectors involved in the case of Dragičević, Darko Ilić and Siniša Kostrešević were appointed advisers to Republika Srpska Interior Minister Dragan Lukač in January last year.

Darko Ćulum is the director of the same police force that held a shameful press conference where the Dragičević case was almost "closed" and made citizens take to the streets. This same press conference was later called by many, including government officials, a "mistake." What did the police director do about it? What did the police director do about David's underwear (as evidence) thrown by police?

Darko Ćulum is the police director who brutally assaulted people on December 25, 2018. People who sought only one thing - truth and justice for David and nothing more. Instead of arresting the murderers, police arrested David’s parents, they said in a statement.

"Justice for David" group announces that they will use all legal means to fight for the justice and truth that is much needed.

“If Ćulum’s appointment is not abandoned, we will call on citizens and all domestic and international public to help prevent this shameful move, which is the result of Milorad Dodik and Fahrudin Radončić's party agreement, although the function of SIPA directors and other police agencies should be professional and devoid of any party influence accordinf to the law,” the statement said.
