SARAJEVO, January 20 (FENA) - In order to foster empathy, help migrants in BiH and support firefighting efforts of the Australian citizens, artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina opened a humanitarian exhibition titled "Empathy" at the Franciscan Monastery of St. Anthony in Bistrik, Sarajevo.

The exhibit has items on sale, and money earned will be used to tackle the migrant crisis and helping endangered animals in Australia.

The organizers are members of the association of non-governmental organizations of the region (ANOR), which today called on citizens and legal entities to cooperate because they believe they can only solve problems by working together.

ANOR member and chairman of the ‘Val’ association Ana Dominik Rodić said that the project launched four strategies on protection, education and humanization in the field of migrant crisis, crime prevention and corruption in politics, as well as addressing air pollution in BiH and other environmental issues.

“Talking to representatives of companies and institutions, we concluded that it is citizens who need to pay more attention to ecology, not politicians. Citizens' lack of environmental awareness causes many environmental problems, in particular, air pollution,” says Dominik Rodić.

In support of this claim, she cited the problem of rivers in BiH that are littered with garbage, illegal landfill sites near settlements, on city streets, illegal construction of houses, lack of filters in factories, etc.

Speaking about empathy towards migrants, Friar Stipan Radić thinks says anyone would rarely say for themselves that they are an unbeliever, no matter in what way they believe in God, but he believes that people do not have enough empathy for people in need, especially for migrants passing through BiH.

“God will not judge us by how many prayers we have spoken, how many words we have spoken to anyone, but He will judge us by our actions. This is why we as believers should show more empathy for the needy, especially migrants. So, not only compassion, but also concrete action,” said Friar Stipan Radić.

The exhibition and humanitarian campaign "Empathy" is open until February 18.
