Turković proposes to BiH CoM to provide financial assistance to people of Turkey

SARAJEVO, January 27 (FENA) - Deputy Chairman of the BiH CoM and BiH Foreign Minister Bisera Turković has submitted a proposal to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to approve funds for assistance to the Republic of Turkey and its people.

On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Bisera Turković proposed that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina urgently, at the next session, make a decision to approve funds in the amount of 100,000 KM as assistance to the Republic of Turkey and the people of the Republic of Turkey after the devastating earthquake.

On January 24, 2020, the eastern part of the Republic of Turkey has been hit by powerful and devastating earthquakes with catastrophic consequences with many casualties and injuries, as well as devastated property. After the first devastating earthquake, more than 948 less severe earthquakes were felt in the region.

According to official data, 39 people were killed in the devastating earthquake in Elazig in eastern Turkey. Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Aithority (AFAD) said 1,607 were injured while rescue teams continue to search for potential survivors as well as victims under the rubble, PR Office of the BiH MoFA stated.
