Višković: RS cannot pay police officers assisting BiH Border Police on its own

TREBINJE, January 28 (FENA) - Prime Minister of the entity of RS, Radovan Višković announced today that he will inform the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Security and the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina that this BiH entity cannot accept to pay for food and lodging for RS MoI members engaged to assist the BiH Border Police.

The RS MoI is willing to do its job, but not to its own damage, because, as he explained, “the suppression of migrants crossing the border is not an obligation of the RS MoI, but the BiH Border Police.”

He stressed that the RS would not allow the border to remain unprotected, but that it could not bear the additional costs of lodging and food for members of the Ministry of the Interior after the International Organization for Migration informed the BiH Border Police that it will not be able to finance it as of January 31.

He claims that the RS has had significant costs for around 100 MoI members staying at the border as it has paid for their daily allowances, fuel and other costs, which amounted to about 1.5 million KM annually.

“The food and accommodation costs for this personnel amounts to about four million KM annually and we cannot bear these costs. This shows in what conditions the state operates. Those who declare that they are helping BiH now refuse the assistance to BiH when it is most needed,” Višković said.
