Fejzić: We will not allow our children to feel threatened

FENA Press release

SREBRENICA, January 28 (FENA) - Deputy Mayor of Srebrenica, Hamdija Fejzić, has expressed indignation and concern over photos of students of the “First Elementary School” in Srebrenica glorifying Chetniks in the premises of the institution.

In addition, Fejzić said in a press release that celebrating the patron saint day in a school, where 70 percent of students are Bosniak, is incorrect and represents the imposition and discrimination of non-Serb children.

“We are asking whether Bosniak students are safe to attend classes. In addition, the lack of any reaction from the school administration, especially the principal, is worrying. We expect from Principal of the "First Elementary School", Drago Jovanović, a public apology to students and parents of Bosniak nationality. Due to a series of failures, Jovanović should resign from this postion. We believe that if he does not resign, he should be dismissed from his position,” Fejzić believes.

He stated that the silence of Serb political representatives is worrying, "because all the events in recent months have not been addressed by them, and silence is a sign of approval."

“We are here for Bosniak parents whose children attend the “First Elementary School”, and we will see with them what are the next steps to be taken. We cannot and will not allow our children to feel threatened in institutions where they should acquire knowledge” Fejzić emphasizes in a press release.
