FENA Press release

BRUSSELS, January 28 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić, today spoke with the President of the BiH Friendship Group in the European Parliament, a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament (AFET), and a shadow rapporteur on BiH for the European Parliament on behalf of a political group Let's Rebuild Europe Klemen Groselj, as well as with the members of the European Parliament from Slovenia Tanja Fajon, Milan Brglez, Franco Bogovič and Irena Joveva.

They discussed the current political situation and the steps and efforts Bosnia and Herzegovina is taking on its European path.

Chairman Zvizdić said he appreciated everything that has been done in the past period, as well as the friendly attitude and commitment of Slovenia to the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He added that Bosnia and Herzegovina is intensively working to further improve the European integration process and stressed that economic development, strengthening the rule of law and improving relations in the region are crucial to the European path and obtaining a candidate status, and that all levels of government are working intensively on these goals.

Chairman Zvizdić also said that the path to EU membership has no alternative and that the summit in Zagreb, during Croatia's EU presidency, will be an opportunity to focus on the Western Balkans region.

One of the topics discussed was the migrant crisis, where Chairman Zvizdić reiterated that Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to act humanely and respect European policies on migrants, but that Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot be a concentration place for migrants in the Western Balkans.

The interlocutors agreed that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a European perspective and that Slovenia would continue to support these aspirations of our country in the coming period, stated the BiH PA  Public Relations Office.
