FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 31 (FENA) - A series of debates on the functioning of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina should be launched in the coming period with a view to producing a report for the plenary session of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) later this year.

This was emphasized at a meeting of members of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly delegation at the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly in Strasbourg with Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović.

Commissioner Mijatović expressed satisfaction with the fact that BiH delegation after one year is again present in that body, where it can represent not only the interests of the state of BiH, but also participate in discussions on all topics covered by the Council of Europe.

In the discussion on the participation of the BiH PA delegation in the work of the PACE, special emphasis was placed on the monitoring of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Commissioner Mijatović emphasized her intention to engage continuously and personally with regard to the protection of human rights in BiH, and announced the presentation of the annual report during the next plenary session of the PACE.

Members of THE BiH Delegation rated as very important the fact that someone from BiH has an important international position, and agreed that individual and institutional engagement that would result in more BiH representatives in international institutions would be of the utmost importance.

It was agreed that in the coming period, members of the BiH PA delegation and Commissioner Mijatović continue with a regular communication on all issues of interest to BiH, stated the BiH PA press office.
