SREBRENICA, February 3 (FENA) - Thirteen subcommittees were appointed at the first meeting of the Organizing Committee held today at the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in the "UN Safe Zone" of Srebrenica.

The Organizing Committee Chairman Hamdija Fejzić said that the subcommittees have the task in the coming period of forming their own teams, as well as working plans and programs.

"There is a lot of work ahead of us, the 25th anniversary of the genocide and a large number of invitees are expected, and we must be prepared to do the job ahead of in the best possible way," Fejzić said.

He pointed out that the Organizing Committee's position is that all those who deny the Srebrenica genocide are not welcome at the commemoration.

“We formed the Council earlier. Among other things, a member of the Council is a member of the BiH Presidency, Šefik Džaferović, who will send out invites to the international state officials in the coming days,” Fejzić said.

On behalf of the BiH Missing Persons Institute, Amor Mašović said that so far, four victims of genocide have been identified whose family members gave their consent for the burial on July 11.

“In addition to the four identified victims of the Srebrenica genocide whose families gave their consent for the burial, there are victims in Podrinje Identification Center Tuzla for whom the families did not consent because the bodies are incomplete. With all these named victims of the genocide, there are 82 victims whose names we do not know, but we know that they are victims of the genocide because they were exhumed in the same graves where the victims were identified in the past. Unfortunately, these victims do not have first and last name because they do not have close relatives from whom blood would be taken for DNA analysis,” Mašović explained.

At the next meeting of the Organizing Committee, a decision will be made with regards these 82 victims whether they would be buried on July 11 in the Potočari Memorial Center.
