SARAJEVO, February 6 (FENA) - Union for Sustainable Return and Integration in BiH gathered representatives of local communities today to assess their interest and networking capacity to contribute to the development of rural tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is part of the 'BH Village' project launched by the Union for Sustainable Return and Integration in BiH to promote rural tourism through capacity building and rural households in BiH, aiming to reduce the outflow of young people from BiH.

Coordinator of the Union for Sustainable Return and Integration in BiH Dženan Mašetić reminded that the project started in Doboj, Ključ, Hadžići, Foča Ustikolina, Trebinje, Tešanj, Goražde and Modriča, and the next phase is to expand activities to other areas in BiH depending on interest.

He points out that they primarily intend to visit households in these areas, make professional photographs and then promote it to the BiH diaspora as well as all to those interested in rural tourism.

The areas where the project started have already had significant results. This was also the benefit of education, which was realized in the households of these eight local communities on the basis of the experiences gained by the educators themselves during their study visit to Serbia.

Mayor of Ključ Municipality Nedžad Zukanović is pleased with the opportunity to present natural beauties and resources through this project and give the people of the area a chance to earn.

“Offers that are better and with better quality will benefit more from that. The beginnings are always difficult, but I believe that we will also encourage others to do the same,” he emphasized.

The project was supported by the Government of Switzerland through the “MarketMakers” project, and is designed as an organized form of rural tourism, educating people from rural households according to EU standards.

The project offers the opportunity to start a business through rural and agro tourism, which will benefit the local community as well.

The story of the contribution to the organized development of rural tourism in BiH started with a pilot project called 'Let's Make Life Better in BiH Together', which was successfully implemented in Kulen Vakuf, Čapljina and Lukavac.

They worked together with the tourist boards and even created the film “Vacation without luxury and stars”.
