SARAJEVO, February 7 (FENA) - BiH Defense Minister Sifet Podžić received today the outgoing Chief of the Turkish contingent within the EUFOR mission in BiH and Senior National Representative (SNR) Brigadier Ali Tanış in a farewell visit.
The meeting was also attended by Brigadier Siniša Ostojić, Head of the NATO-PfP Cooperation Section, and Brigadier Selim Gökcegöz, who will take over the post of Chief of the Turkish contingent within the EUFOR mission in BiH and Senior National Representative for Turkey.
Podžić welcomed Brigadier Ali Tanış and Brigadier Gökcegöz and thanked the Republic of Turkey and the Armed Forces of Turkey for their contribution to the EUFOR mission in BiH, which is a clear support for building a safe environment.
The Turkish delegation was briefed on the work priorities for the coming period in the MoD and AFBiH. One of the priorities is the training process conducted by EUFOR forces in BiH, as well as the continued participation in joint exercises in order to gain interoperability and improve the operational capability of the AFBiH.
Podžić expressed satisfaction with cooperation between the BiH Ministry of Defense and the Turkish MoD so far. He also expressed appreciation for the support from the Turkish military and the Turkish Government.
“The importance of this cooperation is support not only to the AFBiH members, but also to all BiH citizens,” said Minister Podžić.
Podžić thanked Brigadier Ali Tanış for very good cooperation, and wished him success in his future career. The Minister also welcomed Brigadier Selim Gökcegöz, newly appointed Military Attaché in BiH, wishing to continue the cooperation, with the possibility of enhancing it.
Brigadier Tanış expressed satisfaction over the cooperation between the MoD and the AFBiH and the MoD of Turkey, and wished Podžić success in his new post as the Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Brigadier Gökcegöz, who is in his second term in office, commended the professionalism of the AFBiH members, PR Office of the BiH Ministry of Defense announced.
